In the dynamic world of startups, founders face multifaceted challenges that test their mettle, resilience, and adaptability. Christine, the CEO and founder of Asimovo, offers a transparent window into her personal experiences, the highs and lows of her entrepreneurial journey, and the strategies she adopts to maintain her mental well-being.
What inspired you to become a founder?
I love creating and turning ideas into tangible things. I love the design process and building great product and teams.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed in your journey as a founder?
In this startup no, in others yes. When people conflict issues cannot be resolved or when there are major issues with planning (low sales or product not working).
How do you recognize when you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed?
Shorter temper. My mind going over the same thing again and again.
How has your mental well-being impacted your business or decision-making?
Not applicable.
What are the main impacts on your mental well-being as a founder?
Having control reduces stress and having hire and fire control also reduces stress. However, the market reaction is out of your control. I recommend testing frequently and often with customers and market reaction.
Who supports you during challenging times?
My fellow leadership and team. It is small so I support collaboration and openness. Hiring a senior team helps. Outside of work I have a strong family support. Husband. Sisters. Friends, parents who I go to for different counsel. I also have a good friend who is a founder.
What self-care strategies have you adopted?
Openness and honesty on your planning and things you are worried about. Hire experienced people. Prototype frequently and often.
How do you balance your professional and personal life?
I like to keep the plates spinning but I am happy to trust and delegate. Sport and exercise regularly is my form of full concentration and thus meditation.
What advice would you give to others regarding managing stress and mental well-being?
Prototype frequently and often and address things that don’t work early. Address people issues fast. Hire people who are experienced.
